A process-based review of mouse models of pulmonary hypertension

Dr Andre Menache and Professor Anne Keogh recently had a letter to the editor published in the journal Pulmonary Circulation challenging the utility of genetically-modified mice in drug and disease research.

Most astonishingly is the response by the authors/researchers, who acknowledge the failures of animal models. In particular, they state " I doubt even the most optimistic mouse modeler believes that any of the dozens of substances that reverse monocrotaline-related pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) are likely to be directly relevant to human disease."
